Sargasso is a seaside restaurant located on Margate Harbour, Kent. Run by the team behind London’s Brawn restaurant, Sargasso is a relaxed and welcoming place to eat, with a menu of classic British dishes. There is also some outdoor seating, ideal for soaking up the afternoon sun.
Sargasso is open from Wednesday to Monday (closed Tuesday and Wednesday), serving a simple and elegant menu, with a focus on fresh fish. Perhaps you will kick things off with a glass of bubbles and some Maldon oysters served with cider mignonette, or perhaps you’ll go for some smoked cod’s roe and crudités. Main dishes may include braised squid served with chickpeas and aioli, and a raw scallop dish served with navel orange, capers and sorrel. When it comes to desserts you may find the almond cake on the menu served with poached pears and custard, or perhaps you’ll go for the delicious-sounding chocolate mousse served with creme fraiche and prunes. Sargasso enjoys a prime position in Margate Old Town with views out to Margate Main Sands.
