This family-run Italian restaurant located in Merchant City serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner, and aims to bring the spirit of Italy right into the heart of Glasgow.
The interiors of the restaurant are sleek and modern, with wooden floors, crisp white walls, and a mixture of hanging lights and natural light from the large windows. The space is made fresh and cool through the teal velvet chairs and the greenery decorating the space - but on Friday nights, live music comes in and the lights get dimmed, creating a cosy and comfortable setting.
Santa Lucia's menus are extensive and reasonably priced, and diners can make their meal choices off of a seasonal menu if they so choose. Breakfast has more of a modern Europe feel, with its omlettes, croissants, casseroles, and crostoni, yet lunch and dinner have the Italian flavours we all know and love. For antipasti, check out the cozze al limoncello, which is mussels with chillies, garlic, and a limoncello sauce, served with garlic bread. For dinner, there is a selection of pastas, seafood, meat, pizza, 'classics,' or even Italian-Scottish favourites (which the restaurant claims is the likes of spaghetti carbonara or tagliatelle with chicken). And hey, why not get your kid a matching chicken Milanese off the kids menu?
To wash down your meal, Santa Lucia offers a selection of specialty cocktails, frozen daiquiris, and spritzes in addition to the wine and draft beer list, or non-alcoholic choices of soft drinks and juices. Just make sure to save room for dessert, because there are more than enough options to satisfy your sweet tooth, such as the torta Caprese dark chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and orange, or the tiramisu.
