Sans Patrie is an independent restaurant in Nottingham tucked away at the top of Canning Circus, where it exclusively serves ever-changing tasting menus made from the best of the season’s produce. Alongside its main offering, there is also a vegan and vegetarian tasting menu available for diners looking to enjoy its unique dishes without the meat.
The snug, urban-chic dining room offers a relaxed aesthetic that contrasts with the fine dining plates on offer. Wooden benches and stools, hanging pot plants and kooky wallpaper are all part of the scene, and provide an unintimidating backdrop for friends to come together over its elegant tasting plates.
The menu changes regularly, which allows the restaurant team to always offer dishes made from the freshest possible ingredients. However, menus tend to sit around six courses and include a couple each of starters, mains and desserts. Examples of dishes you might try include squash veloute with clementine, sourdough and rosemary, Orkney scallop with celeriac, chanterelle and sauce robert as well as Derbyshire beef fillet with mooli, carrot fondant, ginger and horseradish puree. The sweet course, meanwhile, could include passion fruit sorbet with roast coconut and fennel, or chocolate with lime, coriander and mango sorbet.
The vegan and vegetarian menu includes lots of exciting plant-based plates. Think smoked celeriac with wild mushrooms, truffle oil, vegan feta, onion jam and hazelnuts, and a chocolate tofu delice with mango sorbet!
All tasting menus are available with an optional wine flight for an extra cost, which includes a selection of wines from across the globe and are designed to complement each dish.
The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday, between 6-10pm, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
