Situated in Gatley (South Manchester), Sadagar is a much-lauded Indian restaurants which prides itself on serving high quality, traditional dishes at incredibly reasonable prices. Having been open for well over 20 years, it has become popular among locals and passers-by alike thanks to its no-fuss style of cooking and casual ambience. Housed in a red brick town house and boating multiple bay windows, the restaurant has immediate appeal from the outside. Once you head inside however, it's a more modern affair, with most of the restaurant lit up with a purple hue, and patterns covering the walls and bar. You may also spot the odd nod to the Bengal tiger knocking about. Sadagar's seating consists of a mixture of booths, banquettes, and widely spaced tables.
The extensive food menu is however what Sadagar is really about and there really is a huge amount to choose from. Starters include all the classics such as vegetable samosas, onion bhajis, and pakoras, with the option to get a platter of mixed starters if you're struggling to choose. On top of this, there are a number of tandoori starters too including sheek kebab and chicken chat, while seafood starters range from prawn puree to garlic chilli fish.
Main courses on offer include an unusual lamb dom aloo, which sees roasted potatoes stuffed with egg-coated lamb, as well as paneer chicken sizzler, and south Indian chilli ghost. There are a number of vegetarian options too, including tarka dal and a vegetable biryani. You can also opt for one of Sadagar's set menus, which feature a mixture of starters and mains, if you're struggling to choose. Drinks-wise there's everything from wine and beers to spirits available, as well as a variety of soft drinks for non-drinkers.
