Since launching in 2008, this branch of Rosa’s has established itself as a local haunt with a delightfully homely vibe, a reassuring sense of familiarity and a comforting Thai menu. As well as the usual suspects, it’s worth experimenting with less well-known starters such as venison on lemongrass skewers, crispy squid with plum sauce or hot-and-sour salmon soup. There are interesting salads, too, including a version with grilled rack of lamb and spicy aubergine, while mains range from char-grilled pork neck with dry chilli sauce to seafood-stuffed butternut squash with chilli and coconut mousse. To drink, there’s a minimal choice of wines as well as Thai whiskey – although aromatic teas beckon for invigorating refreshment. Rosa’s chefs even share their secrets with online cooking classes on YouTube, too. The only downside is very “patchy” service.
