London is long overdue a taco joint that's worth going back to again and again, but Taco Taco has us hooked with its tagline: 'Our tacos aren’t street food, they’re sweep-you-off-your-feet-food.' Now, that's marketing we can get behind.
And, as the name suggests, these guys take their vocation of creating truly wow-worthy tacos very seriously. First up, everything is cooked fresh on site, so if you're imagining a fast-food take on Mexican cuisine like you see in American movies - this ain't that. Next, the team are excited about pushing boundaries, so they've created nine taco flavours with the option to mix and match to create your own bespoke tastes, too. And, finally, they claim that 'anything can taco', seeking to bring together ingredients and flavour combinations that have previously been left untried.
Taco Taco is based in the heart of buzzing Shoreditch, making it a great spot for dinner with friends or for those working out of local businesses, a quick lunch option, too. In fact, the team claim to be particularly proud of their speediness when it comes to to-go orders.
At the weekend, dig into breakfast which kicks off at 9am and runs into early afternoon. The hero dish here is the Breakfast Taco; a sourdough tortilla loaded with melted mozzarella cheese, creamy scrambled eggs, pico de gallo and avocado.
As for the rest of the menu, it's focused on all-day dining with tacos filled with a whole host of delights. The Ducking Delicious, for example, features slow cooked shredded duck leg, onions, sultanas and gochujang sauce, while the Magic Mushroom is packed with vegan huitlacoche mushrooms, aged vegan cheese, pico de gallo and coriander, perfect for vegan diners.
There's also a couple of desserts to choose from, such as the Alfajores which is a sweet South American treat filled with Colonial Dulce de Leche and sounds absolutely delicious.
