Kawagishi Japanese Restaurant is a small, independent Japanese restaurant with a great location in Greenwich, situated right on the edge of the water. From its outdoor seating you can watch boats sail past, or from inside the restaurant, huge floor-to-ceiling windows offer a breath-taking view of the London skyline.
The vibe of the restaurant is relaxed and casual, with a spacious look and minimalist style. Think paired-back grey seating, wooden tables and industrial pendants hanging overhead, perfect for a lunch with friends or even impressing your colleagues for after-work dinner. One thing to note for interior design fans, especially, is the beautiful wall mural depicting an elegant crane, sweeping over a scene of crashing waves. If ever there was an Instagram-worthy moment to snap, this was it.
Of course, the main reason to come to Kawagishi Japanese Restaurant is the food. For those who love Japanese cuisine, this authentic eatery will wow you with its traditional techniques and fresh, flavourful recipes. Why not start with a selection of small plates for the table? We particularly like the sound of the chopped tuna tartare with yuzu miso, spring onion avocado crest and tempura nori, alongside chicken wings marinated in Korean spices, glazed with soy and red chili.
If you're into sushi, you'll love the mix of salmon, tuna and kingfish sashimi, alongside shrimp, eel, avocado and salmon nigiri. When it comes to larger main dishes, try the likes of pan fried teriyaki salmon, as well as dynamite chicken with vegetables and Korean spices, plus prawn katsu curry. Another idea is to go for the chef selection which offers deals on themes such as all-sushi, salmon or tuna focuses or the nigiri set, which gets you a little feast for a great price.
