There is no better place to stop off for a cosy, traditional gastronomical experience than the Queen's Cafe Bar. Situated in the Queen's Arcade, Belfast's bustling shopping centre, the team are ready to refuel you after a long day as a busy shopper, city centre worker or tourist.
Its fabulous all-day menu features fresh local produce in familiar family-friendly plates of Irish and British cuisine. The restaurant itself is warm and friendly, boasting a unique personality that you're unlikely to find elsewhere. You'll find communal booth seating, perfect for groups, with bright flowers and walls throughout the dining area. The restaurant manages to create a unique balance between sleek and modern and traditional and cosy.
The all day menu is split into starters, light bites and main courses. The chef's homemade soup of the day makes a great starter or quick, light lunch; served with thick wheaten bread and butter that is perfect for dipping and moping up the last hearty drops of soup.
At lunchtime, diners can opt between smaller plates of sandwiches and salad or full main courses. A classic chicken club is given the Queen's Cafe treatment with sliced chicken, bacon, lettuce and tomato served in between two slices of thick, toasted sourdough bread that are slathered in mayonnaise and served alongside skinny fries. Queen's Cafe uses crispy honey roasted pork belly bites to elevate a base of lettuce and sharp apple, which is then topped with black pudding and an orange and honey dressing.
The main course selection features traditional home-comforts. Burgers, pasta and steaks are sure to tempt any diner, especially with an extensive sides offering of fries, salad, garlic bread and even noodles. A firm favourite is, of course, the champ and sausages; Lisdurgan pork and beef sausages and crispy champ fritters are smothered in a smooth, rich pearl onion gravy.
