In case you haven't heard of it, Platform is a small chain of London-based gaming bars giving guests the chance to play, eat and drink all in one space. Come along to the Canary Wharf branch with a large group or just a few friends and hosts will show you to a semi-private gaming booth where you'll be given both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation controllers, with options to try old-school games or new ones. While walk-ins are catered for if possible, the team always recommends booking ahead for both your gaming session and time to enjoy some food before or afterwards.
Speaking of which, while Platform is very much about the activity in hand, the team are quietly confident about their food offering, too. The menu is all about crowd-pleasing favourites with a selection of customisable pizzas and nachos to keep you going. There are eight pizzas in total with plenty of vegetarian options at the ready. We like the sound of the Haduoken with mozzarella, tomato, pepperoni and chilli or the Chocobo and Chorizo with mozzarella, tomatoe, chicken, chorizo and mixed pepper. And, if you fancy it, throw on extras of vegan cheese, fresh chilli, bacon, ham and more.
Nachos sound super satisfying and come classic or loaded, starting with a base of tortillas with cheese, jalapenos, tomato salsa and sour cream, with options to add chicken, bacon and chorizo on top. To finish things off, enjoy a few scoops from Hackney Gelato, a much-loved London-based favourite with current options including dark chocolate and raspberry sorbets.
When it comes to drinks, get the party started with the banging cocktail list of games-themed concoctions. We like the sound of the Any Last Words? with Beefeater gin, green chartreuse,
Luxardo Maraschino and lime, while the overall drinks menu includes prosecco and Aperol Spritz, a wide range of beers, low and no alcohol options as well as soft drinks.
