Franco Manca’s Canary Wharf location is on the cool artificial island in the Isle of Dogs. Crossrail Place is filled with shops, a cinema, and a stunning roof garden. The transport links from Canary Wharf are great, making it a super easy restaurant to get to and from by tube, bus, boat, or cycle. The pizzeria is located on the first floor of the ship-like building, which was the largest timber project in the UK. So for a delicious sourdough pizza with a view, definitely head here.
The interior is accommodating and spacious with two ovens, making it a great option for larger group outings and parties. There is a beautiful terrace area to get some stunning views while eating a hot pizza, and huge floor-to ceiling windows offer great views from the inside too. The restaurant itself is sleek and stylish, fitting for the Canary Wharf crowd, with mirrored walls and wooden flooring and accents.
Check out the blackboard for the daily specials, which feature fresh ingredients such as San Marzano tomatoes, goat’s curd, and bresaola. Or you can choose one of the seven well-thought out pizzas from the menu. Extra toppings are available too.
The mozzarella is made in Somerset by specialists from the southern Italian Apennines, stilton is from Colston Basset, other cheeses like ricotta and goat’s cheese are also British. The cured meats are sourced from various locations from Tuscany to the Yorkshire Dales. The wines are from organic vineyards of Abruzzo, Piedmont, and Siciliy, and the tomatoes are 100% Italian. Beers are no-logo from local London breweries.
The dough is made fresh every day, using an 18th century starter and flour from the Pivetti family farm, in Bologna. The range of ingredients pays homage to the pizzeria’s Italian roots and British foundations, truly offering the best of both worlds.
