The third Bristol venue for the Pizzarova mini-chain finds its home on Park Street and is the biggest site in the group’s portfolio. Pizzarova’s shtick is handmade sourdough pizzas and the restaurant originally started out life as a street food van in 2013, housed in a converted Land Rover Defender which drove around Somerset visiting markets and food festivals.
These days, fans of Pizzarova don’t have to go to a festival to get their fix. At the Park Street site, you’ll find rustic-chic interiors in a dining room that features large sharing tables that are great for communal dining. The open kitchen adds to the convivial atmosphere and is also a great place to watch the chefs twirling pizza bases before they cook them up in the restaurant’s specially designed Dragon Oven.
The menu comprises of a selection of handmade pizzas that are made using slowly fermenting sourdough that has apparently been fed for 71 year. The reason for the long wait? It results in light and airy dough which boasts a distinctive taste. Every diner starts with a classic and simple Margherita pizza, before they choose whether or not they want to add toppings. There are also gluten-free bases available, as well as vegan pizzas and mini versions for kids.
Watch out for the seasonal special which changes every month too, and might see a combination like nduja sausage with fresh garlic, basil and buffalo mozzarella. There are a range of sides which are written up daily on a blackboard too. If you’re visiting at lunchtime, you can opt for the nine inch ‘Lunch Pizza’, which is smaller than the typical 12 inch pizzas offered here and ideal for a light lunch.
Pizzarova Park Street is one of three locations for the group in Bristol. The original site can be found on Gloucester Road, while the second is found at Wapping Wharf Crate.
