Offering a fun, quirky take on classic pizza, Pizza Metro operates from a cosy corner site decorated with eye-catching murals of Italian street scenes, red-tiled flooring & knick-knacks aplenty. The ‘Metro’ in the title refers to the size of pizza. Staff recommend 0.5 metres for two people to share, but you can order as much as you like (they will even make round pizzas if you ask nicely). Thankfully, the food is more than a gimmick. ‘Excellent’ crispy bases come straight from the wood-fired oven, with generous, well-seasoned, familiar toppings. Classic trattoria fare is also on the menu – parmigiana di melanzane & decent antipasti, good salads, pasta & the likes of vitello milanese. Service is efficient, sometimes to the point of aggression; lingering certainly isn’t encouraged.
