These days, Londoners are spoilt for choice when it comes to casual Greek eateries. Joining the likes of The Athenian and Suvlaki, is Carnaby based Pittabun. The fast-casual joint’s trendy and minimalist interior is in keeping with its location, although a small touch of Greece can be found via the concrete benches of its modest seating arrangement.
Unsurprisingly, Pittabun’s USP is its range of stuffed pittas. The pittas themselves cannot be faulted, tasting both fresh and fluffy. Meanwhile, the fillings range from the generic (charcoaled chicken, etc.) to the likes of roast lamb kleftiko, which was unfortunately somewhat overpowered by its lemon and oregano sauce. The best thing we ate was the panko-crusted cod fillet, which is served with sweet beetroot ketchup, but we also loved the sugary, cinnamon-dusted goodness of the apple crumble pitta.
Despite having a slightly higher price point than you’d expect for a restaurant which essentially serves street food, Pittabun is worth a visit for a quick bite before the theatre or a night out.
