Pitcher and Piano is an informal chain of bars and restaurants serving bottomless brunch, lunch and dinner, alongside a wine list and cocktail menu. The Nottingham branch feels special thanks to its beautiful setting, a Grade II listed redundant church on High Pavement. Built in the late 1600s and designed by architect Stuart Coleman, the building features a magnificent ceiling, stained glass windows and second floor balconies which overlook the central space.
The location is pretty perfect, too. While it's positioned close to Nottingham's city centre, just a stone's throw from the high street, it's also tucked away from the hustle and bustle. The area of High Pavement is one of Nottingham's most historic, with winding streets and beautiful buildings leading down into the creative quatre of Hockley.
Thanks to the building's ambience, this is a great spot for a nice meal out or a couple of drinks with friends. The all day menu is extensive and varied, serving up sharer boards like nachos and chicken katsu fries, baked-to-order flamkuche pizzas and large plates such as hand-battered fish and chips, grilled seabass and meatball rigatoni. If you fancy something a little lighter, the sandwiches sound great - especially the fish finger brioche.
We hope you have a sweet tooth because the dessert menu has just as many choices from burnt basque cheesecake to warm chocolate brownie with blood orange ice cream. The strawberry and prosecco ice cream bar sounds like it deserves particular special attention, described as a prosecco-infused vanilla ice cream dipped in white chocolate with strawberries and meringue pieces.
As for the drinks, the cocktail list is hard to ignore with over 30 different choices. Expect all of the classics from espresso martinis to a cosmopolitan, as well as a curated selection of house mixes, too. Here you'll find the likes of 'one in a melon' with tequila, green melon liqueur, watermelon syrup, cranberry juice and lime juice, and 'on Wednesdays we wear pink' with gin, lychee liqueur, sugar syrup, grenadine, lemon juice and edible flowers.
