Fresh by name, fresh by nature, this friendly little café is dominated by a large kitchen that churns out all manner of lovely homemade goodies from breakfast through to afternoon tea. Organic quiches, sausage rolls, pies & fishcakes go down a treat with young professionals at lunchtime, along with substantial blackboard mains ranging from steak & mushroom pie to Moroccan chicken or butternut squash & lentil stew. All the food is available to take away or you can pitch up at one of the communal farmhouse tables for a cramped, but sociable nosh with the regulars. Freshly squeezed juices & homemade smoothies are a hit with health-conscious yummy mummies, but it’s hard to resist the terrific patisserie – particularly the plum tart, which is best savoured with a cup of excellent Monmouth coffee.
