Opened in 2020, Pellizco was originally a street food trailer, located in Sheffield. Now, this little restaurant on Dyson Place has won several great awards and been featured in widespread press in the last two years. The menu takes inspiration from cities, states and chefs across Mexico and in the UK, and aims to represent traditional Mexican food with the use of seasonal, local and fresh ingredients. The menu is primarily based on Mexican antojitos, which translates to little cravings. You should look to order two or three dishes per person with snacks and sides, and sharing amongst the table is encouraged.
While you wait you can snack on guacamole with fresh lime and tostadas and crunchy giant chilli corn. All the salsas are made in house, and include a mild version with tomatillo, jalapenos, apples, avocado and coriander, along with the spicy salsa macha with peanuts, sesame seeds, arbol, ancho and guajillo chillies. For a creamy texture, try the cauliflower and miso crema option. Slow cooked lamb shoulder with roasted feta, mole and salsa verdes and pickled carrots tastes divine wrapped in floury tortillas and garnished with lime and coriander, as does the Moss Valley pork al pastor with pineapple and jalapenos.
From the antojitos menu, try the habanero hot honey chicken with pickled cucumber, delicious char grilled shell-on tiger prawns in a tequila glaze with guajillo butter, or tenderstem broccoli with flaked almonds. On the side, try the fried potatoes with a paprika and garlic rub, salsa roja and spring onion crema. Dessert options are simple – its churros with billion dark chocolate sauce and cinnamon sugar, or a scoop of house made ice cream or sorbet.
