Pavilion at the Park is a more recent addition to the four-star Park Hotel in Kilmarnock. The hotel itself is a stylish establishment, with spaces for business, dining, conferences, banquets, weddings and parties. The pavilion is the hotel’s bar and coffee shop, perfect for a quick bite or drink in the sun. Inside you’ll find a chic bar and modern interiors, with a relaxed, buzzy atmosphere.
There’s an extensive selection of drinks here and certainly something for everyone. You’ll find all the classic cocktails you might expect, including mojitos, martinis (espresso and porn star) and margaritas, as well as more unusual mixes like the raspberry shake (Dead Man’s Fingers Raspberry Rum Cream Liqueur, Bacardi, lime juice, sugar syrup and cranberry). Anyone not drinking alcohol can enjoy a mocktail instead, including the designated driver or virgin mai-tai.
The wine list is pretty impressive too, especially considering the size of the pavilion. There are some great old and new world options, most of which are available by the bottle or small/medium/large glass. Those who are celebrating might prefer something bubbly, like the Ayala Brut, Veuve Cliquot or Laurent-Perrier Champagnes.
When dining here, the ‘chatter platters’ are a brilliant choice for sharing. The meatier option features cured and smoked meats, warm bread, mozzarella, sun-blushed tomatoes, olives, balsamic glaze, pesto and olive oil, while the veggie option swaps the meats for hummus, guacamole, celery and spiced nuts. The platters also include a bottle of wine or Prosecco, making them even better value. During the day, quicker bites include sandwiches, baked potatoes, toasties, paninis, salads or soup. If you’re after something a little more decadent, try the loaded skinny fries like smoked bacon and cheddar or cajun chicken and coconut curry. The cafe even does afternoon tea, which includes various sandwiches, mini cakes and scones, a sausage roll and tea or coffee.
