You might well know of Pasta Evangelists from their make-at-home kits which promise ‘restaurant quality’ pasta at your pad. But, if you want to see if these self-proclaimed pasta aficionados can put their money where their mouths are, then head to Harrods’ dining hall.
The location alone ticks the box for wow-factor. With elaborately tiled walls, a seemingly limitless ceiling and live saxophonist, walking into this huge space is a special experience. There are a few restaurants dotted around, but you’ll find Pasta Evangelists on the right-hand side with a string of bar stools facing the kitchen so that you can watch the action.
The staff and service live up to Harrods’ world-class reputation, with the team regularly offering help with the menu, refilling drinks and ensuring that everything was just right. When we visited, the team even offered to move us closer to the live music after noticing how much we liked it.
Pasta Evangelists Harrods dining hall menu has a curated feel with eight dishes, all revolving around fresh pasta. While the lasagne cupcake sounded fun, we went with the decadent spaghettoni all’aragosta which mixes ever-so-slightly al dente spaghetti with fresh lobster, rich aubergine, semi-dried tomatoes and basil. The finished effect is stunning. Incredibly tasty, cooked to perfection and adjusted to your preferred spice levels, if pasta is your thing then this is definitely somewhere to put on your must-visit list.
Those who are feeling peckish might also want to add some starters or sides to their selection and in this respect, the focaccia is a no-brainer. Cooked fresh in a small, open oven in front of you, it’s fresh and moreish. In classic Italian style, the only dessert on offer is tiramisu, but considering it’s so generously ladened with fresh cream we didn’t mind at all.
Drinks-wise, we recommend asking your server which wines they think would complement your pasta choice, but if in doubt more brilliant Italian classics are on hand such as an Aperol Spritz or a heady Negroni.
