‘Coffee for the people’ is Ozone’s slogan, and this artisan roasting joint-cum-café just off the Silicon Roundabout is bang on target. Occupying a perky industrial space featuring huge windows,
stripped-back brickwork, weathered tables and hand-painted signs, it lives and breathes caffeine, with a wraparound espresso bar at the heart of things. The kitchen works from breakfast until
lunchtime, delivering “huge” omelettes and bowls of porridge, before moving on to potato salad in caper mayo, kedgeree with poached egg or open roast beef sandwiches with aged Cheddar. Boozers can
dip into the exclusively Kiwi wine list (Ozone’s owners are from New Zealand) or order a pint of local ale, although coffee is obviously the main event. Visitors are also encouraged to check out
the traditional drum roaster, which is hidden away among sacks of beans downstairs.
