If you’re looking for buzzy, relaxed dining in the heart of Portsmouth, let us gently steer you in the direction of Outside-In. This upbeat dining concept finds its home in a hidden warehouse and makes the perfect place to bring friends and family together for group dining. The concept is a simple one, it’s food hall style eating, with everyone ordering whatever they fancy from the range of vendors before settling at the communal tables to enjoy their feast.
Favourites from the stalls include Gyroland, OishiBuns, Big Bite and The Panormus Pizzeria. Gyroland deals in Greek food and serves up everything from souvlaki wraps – packed with meat, sauces, salad and chips – through to mezze plates, dips and grills. OishiBuns is a bao specialist and is always a popular one with diners. A top shout is the chicken satay bao stuffed with fried chicken, cucumber, chilli, coriander, and satay sauce. Big Bite is properly dirty American soul food. Think burgers, chicken tenders and loaded fries stacked with all your favourite toppings. The team also does a mean milkshake if that’s your thing. Finally, The Panormus Pizzeria is as you might expect… a pizzeria. The team here work to a traditional Italian recipe for their dough, creating authentic pizzas for guests. Toppings run from classics like a good old margherita through to specials like a jerk chicken creation.
Since opening in April 2019 Outside In has gone from strength to strength, bringing on nearly 20 different food and drink concepts and apparently serving over 1000 cocktails every year, as well as beer, wines, and softs.
There’s a regular roaster of entertainment, and this isn’t just one for the grown-ups either, as the venue is both dog- and family friendly. Bring the kids and let them choose their own tea for a fuss-free solution to mealtimes. Also, if you’re a student or civil servant you can bag a 10% discount.
