Exposed brickwork, polished woods and a lively bar set the scene at this family-friendly Italian situated in the heart of Liverpool’s financial quarter – just a stroll from the city’s nightlife. Familiar hand-made pastas and pizzas from the wood-fired oven are top calls on a menu that also pulls in tempting appetisers such as cannellini bean soup with sautéed wild mushrooms, Grana Padano and truffle oil as well as mains ranging from pork cutlet saltimbocca with Tuscan ham, sage and rosemary potatoes to grilled fillet of sea bass with sun-dried tomato risotto. Desserts are an Anglo-Italian mixed bag (think sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownie or tiramisu), and there are some easy-drinking Italian wines on the international list. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is informally relaxed.
