Vegan Burger King: the burger giant opens its first ever vegan restaurant in Central London

Fast food giant Burger King is relaunching its flagship restaurant in Leicester Square as a 100% vegan concept today. That means the only Whoppers or Royales on the menu are completely plant-based, with the burger giant offering vegan alternatives for a number of its best-selling items, along with plenty of new options, too.

The aim behind the store is to make plant-based options more accessible to the public while being (let’s be honest) a bit of a marketing stunt. It’s also a chance for the burger brand to find out which of its vegan items are the most popular, with a view to potentially introduce them as permanent fixtures on its national menus.

The meat-free concept won’t stick around forever though. The rebrand is only scheduled to last for a month, opening on 14 March and ending on 10 April.

So, what’s on the menu? Customers will be able to get their hands on existing vegan Burger King favourites, including its plant-based Whopper and Vegan Royale, along with more than 15 new and exclusive options on the menu. Look out for the limited edition ‘Cheeeze & Bakon' Burger, a plant-based Bakon Double Cheeeze XL and vegan Cheeeze & Bakon Royale.

Katie Evans, chief marketing officer at Burger King UK, said: "We're incredibly proud of our new meat-free menu; it absolutely delivers on big taste with no compromises and reflects our ongoing commitment to serving our customers a diverse and innovative range of products.

"The limited-edition menu is a direct result of our focus on vegan and plant-based innovation and goes hand in hand with our target of a 50% meat-free menu by 2030, as well as our commitment to sustainability and responsible business. We can't think of a more fitting way to re-launch our new-look flagship in Leicester Square."
