Canadian fast food joint Tim Hortons will be opening its first London branch later this year, in Park Royal, west London. Visitors can expect the brand's signature coffee, doughnuts and more in drive-through, dine-in and delivery formats.
Tim Horton’s is popular for its hot and cold drinks, breakfast dishes like egg and cheese muffins, burgers and signature baked goods like Boston cream doughnuts or honey crullers. Although the group has stiff competition in this department from the likes of Greggs, Pret, Starbucks, Costa and more, it seems to be gaining popularity this side of the Atlantic.
The chain first came to the UK in 2017, opening a site in Glasgow. Now, there are more than 50 sites across the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Belfast and Leicester. The group plans to double its offering here to 100 sites by the end of next year.
The chief commercial officer at Tim Hortons in the UK, Kevin Hydes, had this to say about the UK expansion: "Despite challenging times for the sector, our model has continued to prove its success and we are confident now is the right time to open in the capital and announce our updated growth strategy.
"We have a dedicated acquisition and construction team with us supporting our ambitious growth plan and we will be continuing to actively look for leasehold and freehold opportunities across the UK and Ireland.
"We are delighted to finally be bringing a restaurant to London, in what will be the first of many, with plenty more exciting openings in the pipeline for 2022 and beyond."
Having started back in 1964, Tim Hortons now has over 4,700 sites worldwide and shows no signs of slowing down. This isn’t surprising, considering it's owned by the same group that owns Burger King and Popeyes, both of which are currently pushing UK expansion too.
