Homeless charity StreetSmart is back for its 21st annual fundraising campaign this festive season, kicking off with a special Christmas supper club.
Every year, StreetSmart runs a campaign which raises money for homeless people by adding £1 per table to diners’ bills at participating London restaurants. Since its conception, the StreetSmart campaign has raised over £8.8 million, 100% of which goes towards grassroots projects tackling homelessness across the country.
The campaign began two decades ago with a handful of supporters in Soho, but has now grown to include over 500 participating restaurants, such as Barrafina, China Tang and The River Café. New sign-ups this year include the likes of Fera, Cora Pearl, The Hero of Maida, and Yotam Ottolenghi’s Rovi.
To mark the start of the campaign, StreetSmart will host a one-off supper club on 7 December at Spitalfields co-working space Benk & Bo. The evening will see The Barbary’s head chef Eyal Jagermann, Masterchef 2016 contestants Billy & Jack, and chef and food writer Alexandra Dudley team up for an evening of food and festive cheer.
Guests at the supper club will enjoy a three-course feast and classic cocktails, with all proceeds going towards StreetSmart’s 2018 campaign. The menu on the evening will be inspired by Middle Eastern influences and flavours, while guests will also receive a goody bag to take home.
