Entrepreneur offers up stunning restaurant space and mentorship to one lucky chef

Sussex-based entrepreneur Alexander Coombes and the team behind successful coastal restaurant and cafe group Perch is giving the chance of a lifetime to an aspiring restauranteur or ambitious chef by offering them their very own venue to develop.

Founded in 2015, the company currently has three venues – Perch on the Beach in Lancing, Perch in the Park in Eastbourne, and Perch on the Pier in Worthing – with The Nest being the group's latest venture. The Nest is set to be an incubator space found on the fully renovated Worthing Pier, where the chosen candidate will be handed over the keys to a fully functional restaurant.

Located on the Art Deco pier with its historic Southern Pavilion and stunning coastal views, restaurant space The Nest is a stand-alone restaurant on the first floor with a dining space that boasts a fully furnished 35-cover dining area, bar and brand-new kitchen. The recently restored venue is available to the lucky candidate for 18 months along with a support and mentorship package which includes things like marketing, accounting, operations and HR help.

Candidates will need to apply with projected costs and revenue along with a clear vision showing they have what it takes to create a successful restaurant and develop an incredible menu while offering exceptional service to guests. The rent will be worked out as a percentage of the revenue, alleviating unknown overheads.

Commenting on the project, Managing Director of Perch Alexander Coombes says, ‘This is one of the finest dining spaces and I'm tremendously excited to see the ideas and developments that come from it. We want to support and grow a great idea into another fantastic restaurant in Worthing.’

While the opportunity does not last forever, after a year or two, The Perch team will be on hand to help with the transition to a new space in the area. The Nest will then once again be offered to another candidate to develop a new idea.
