Christmas is not only a time for carols, cherished moments with loved ones, and more food in our tummies than we really need. One of the highlights of everyone’s festive calendars (surely it’s not just us…) is the exciting release of Christmas adverts by all our favourite brands.
Marks & Spencer has kicked off this year’s festive ad season with an offering that has really set the tone for what’s to come.
M&S’ 2022 Christmas food advert sees Dawn French returning to our screens as the Christmas Fairy, alongside Jennifer Saunders as Duckie, an adored but slightly bedraggled dog toy. French teaches an exhausted Duckie how to fly and, seeing that Duckie is in need of a little festive cheer, introduces the M&S Christmas food range with a spectacular flourish of her wand.
French first appeared on M&S’ Christmas ad last year alongside Tom Holland’s Percy Pig, as the fairy who brought Percy Pig to life.
This year, M&S is continuing with its tradition of giving us everything and more we could ask for from a festive ad. A picturesque and cosy Christmas setting? Check. Adorable characters who form a heart-warming friendship? Check. And slow-motion camera pans across plates of mouth-watering food? Check. The art of Christmas ad making is practically a science at this point, and M&S has perfected it.On the subject of this year’s Christmas food advert, Sharry Cramond, director of marketing and hospitality at M&S Food, explains that “This Christmas we know families want a cosy but special get together at home. Our ad brings to life what we have to offer – the perfect menu to deliver that warm, fuzzy, festive feeling.”
She continues to say that “our food range is about offering the best possible quality at the best possible price – from essential to showstoppers – alongside that all-important dose of M&S Christmas magic.”
