KFC has released a statement declaring that customers of the fried chicken outlet in the UK will be facing shortages of certain items on the menu, as well as some products lacking the signature red packaging.
In a statement released to Twitter, KFC said the situation ‘is not ideal’, explaining that ‘disruption’ to its supply chain has forced the restaurant to go without its full menu.
The UK is currently facing a shortage of HGV lorry drivers who are critical for food delivery after large amounts of EU truckers returned to their home countries during the Covid-19 pandemic or because of uncertainties surrounding Brexit.
KFC went on to praise it’s ‘incredible’ staff and the ‘brilliant job’ that they are doing ‘to keep things running smoothly’.
This is not the first time that KFC has faced a shortage of dishes on its menu. Casting our minds back to 2018, the UK faced another shortage of Colonel Sanders’ 11 herbs and spices coated chicken, resulting in the London Metropolitan Police releasing a statement that the scarcity was ‘not a police matter if your favourite eatery is not serving the menu you desire’. During the 2018 shortage, over 500 outlets were forced to close due to ‘operational problems’ with DHL.
KFC ended its statement on an optimistic note, saying to customers that the brand looks forward to seeing customer soon for their ‘next fried chicken fix’

‘Just a head up that across our country, there’s been some disruption over the last few weeks- so things may be a little different when you next visit us.’
‘You might find some items aren’t available or our packaging might look a little different to normal. We know it’s not ideal, but we’re working hard to keep things running smoothly’
‘In the meantime, please be patient with our incredible teams… they’re doing a brilliant job despite the disruption.’
‘We can’t wait to see you soon for your next fried chicken fix. Thanks for understanding’
