Jamie Oliver to open Cookery School and Cafe at unlikely central London location

Jamie Oliver is launching a flagship Jamie Oliver Cookery School and Cafe at John Lewis on Oxford Street. The new Cookery School is his first project since opening Jamie Oliver Catherine St in Covent Garden and will host more than 40 classes across a range of cuisines and dishes, including Peruvian ceviche, Italian ravioli and Vietnamese street food.

Spanning a huge 4,600 sq ft, the school will house two classrooms able to host classes of 24 each, as well as a demonstration kitchen and an events space that can be hired for corporate gatherings.

The chef is also opening a 50-cover, all-day cafe where guests will be able to choose from a range of menu items including focaccia sandwiches, fresh salads and freshly made sweet treats. Dishes will highlight the best of UK produce with suppliers such as HG Walter, Dusty Knuckle Bakery, Stickleback, Liberty Wines and New Ground Coffee – some of Jamie’s favourites we’re told.

This is Jamie’s second Cookery School in London, the first being his north London location at Jamie Oliver HQ in Islington, which opened back in 2016.

Speaking about the launch, the chief executive of Jamie Oliver Group Kevin Styles said: ‘I’m delighted to partner with John Lewis to bring our unique Cookery School to life in a flagship location in Central London.

‘This is the next step in growing the footprint of the Jamie Oliver Cookery School across the UK and internationally and central to making Jamie’s stripped back, chef-inspired food accessible to everyone.’

The school will also host free lessons for children over the summer in its continued commitment to helping teach kids to cook.

Bringing Jamie Oliver on board is the next step in John Lewis’ multi-million pound store makeover plans.

Executive director for John Lewis, Peter Ruis, commented on the launch: ‘The buzz is back in John Lewis and we’re giving our customers even more reasons to shop in our brilliant stores. We’re backing ourselves with significant investment to ensure customers get the exceptional quality, outstanding service, and competitive prices they love about our unique brand.’

Jamie Oliver Cookery School and Cafe at John Lewis is set to open in Spring 2025.
