In July Jamie Oliver announced a brand-new TV programme, Keep Cooking Family Favourites, which airs for the first time this month.
The celebrity chef announced the news via Instagram on Tuesday the 21 July, teasing fans with a behind the scenes shot of his camera crew, along with the caption: “NEW TV show for you all!!!! ‘Keep Cooking Family Favourites’ featuring loads of recipes from my NEW book Jamie’s 7 ways [sic]”.
The show follows on from Jamie’s hugely successful recent TV programme, Keep Cooking and Carry On, which he and his team launched in direct response to Coronavirus – offering tips, tricks and recipes for how to eat well without needing many of the sold-out ingredients we couldn’t find in the shops at the time.
The format of the new show will see Jamie rustle up delicious family food from everyday ingredients – from salmon to spuds. Each recipe has been chosen from the chef’s latest book, which was built around research on the most commonly bought items British families eat each week. With plenty of affordable, useful and feel-good meals we can’t wait to see what’s in store.
The show has been filmed at Jamie’s own home, with lots of hands-on help from the family.
Samantha Beddoes, Executive Producer at the Jamie Oliver Group, has said: “We’re really excited to share this new series. We’ve all been spending more time cooking at home and need a bit of inspiration to mix it up a bit to keep it interesting. Jamie has been at home too, and this new series offers a glimpse into what he’s been cooking for his own family, creating meals that work for real family life. Filmed in his garden at home, the cooking is joyful and delicious, offering ingeniously tasty ways to use our everyday ingredients in new ways to create dishes which will become instant family favourites.”
Just before the show launched Jamie shared a video offering fans a little taste of what was to come, explaining that the programme focuses on beautiful lifestyle shots as well as the recipes in a bid to tap into what people were appreciating more in the last few months. Viewers can expect drone footage, time lapses, macro close-ups of creepy crawlies and a whole lot more. Speaking in an Instagram TV post the chef said he wanted those watching the show to be, "relaxed, inspired and also feel that simple things can make a different in their lives". Jamie also recognised that while lockdown has been tough it’s also brought people a new sense of priority. “a lot of bad things have happened in the last three months, but also I think there has been a reconnection with family as well as nature," he said.
