Greggs vegan steak bake has officially launched

The rumours are true: Greggs new vegan steak bake launched in stores today.

Greggs had been teasing an expansion of their vegan range for the last few days of 2019, and insiders had hinted that the newest item to launch would be a vegan steak bake. The popular British bakery chain had released a video hyping up a Greggs X Vegan range dropping this January.

Rumours had been circling for a while about new vegan products and Greggs’ teaser video has delivered on its promise of a new pastry offering, so here’s hoping for even more vegan baked goods.

Greggs has become an unlikely champion for plant-based foods, but after the uber successful release of their vegan sausage rolls, they have become a go-to for vegan Londoners. It’s only been a year since their vegan sausage roll broke the internet, becoming one of the bakery’s best-selling pastry products, and people are ready for more plant-based baked goodness.

Ever since the company’s own CEO, Roger Whiteside, turned vegan, the company has been making changes. The bakery already offers meat and dairy-free Mexican bean and sweet potato wraps and a winter vegetable soup. Insiders have also revealed that the culture is changing, as staff are being trained to use different coloured equipment to accommodate dietary preferences.
