Stormzy receives first ever Greggs ‘black card’

UK-wide bakery chain Greggs has launched a black card, with the first ever one being gifted to rapper Stormzy.

In just a few short years, Stormzy has become the UK’s most prominent rap star, scooping up Brit Awards and scoring number one hits such as Vossi Bop and Take Me Back To London. Now though, the 26 year old may well be experiencing his greatest achievement yet – being the first ever person to enjoy a life-long supply of Gregg’s sausage rolls.

Taking to Twitter, Stormzy posted a video of him unboxing the gift which he had received in the post. Greggs sent Stormzy a sleek black box concealing a video screen that displayed a message congratulating Stormzy on being the first person to ever have a Greggs black card, as well as sneaking in a few references to some of his greatest hits.

In his post, Stormzy wrote: “Are you mad the first Greggs black card @GreggsOfficial I have peaked this is brilliant.”

The black card gives users access to what has been christened Gregg’s Concierge – a delivery service which will bring any order of Greggs sausage rolls, steak bakes or sweet treats direct to your door, entirely free of charge.

It’s bad news for us lowly commoners though, as it seems the VIP service is not available to the general public. Staying coy about the new initiative, a spokesperson for Greggs said: “Our concierge card is strictly by invite only to some of our biggest fans. That’s all we can say.”

Greggs isn’t the first brand to gift celebrities a black card. ‘Cheeky’ piri-piri chicken restaurant chain Nando’s also has a black card which it occasionally sends to celebrity fans, most notably previous Stormzy collaborator Ed Sheeran.

While you might not be able to get your hands on a Greggs black card, you’ll be glad to know that everyone’s welcome at Galaxy’s adults-only Easter egg hunt.
