Marriage on the menu: Gino D'Acampo wants to marry couples himself at his restaurant Luciano

Gino D'Acampo wants to marry couples at his restaurant, providing both the space and himself as an officiant.

D’Acampo's lavish Alderley Edge restaurant Luciano is currently being renovated to include an upstairs space for events and weddings. Surprisingly, D’Acampo has said he wants to do some of the marrying himself. He has some experience, having married his friends Marco and Cleo on the beach in Sardinia.

Four years later, on the hugely popular ITV show Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip, Gino officiated a vow renewal ceremony for Marco and Cleo.

In that episode, we see D’Acampo seemingly reading vows from one of his cookbooks (never one to miss a marketing opportunity), before nabbing a kiss from the bride before the groom, much to Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix’s surprise.

The upscale Luciano is the second opening named after Gino’s oldest son (the first Luciano is in central London). This branch finds itself in the posh Cheshire village of Alderley Edge, with the upstairs space previously home to YU, a Chinese restaurant.

D’Acampo says, “I would love to marry people, and the upstairs space here is going to be amazing.” While you don’t have to have the man himself officiate, he does aim to marry “maybe six couples a year”.

The space is versatile and won’t just be used for weddings. He says “it will be open all year round for private events and weddings, even divorce parties if you like."

The churches near the Alderley Edge branch of Luciano will hopefully provide some wedding breakfast bookings from those wanting a traditional, celebrity chef-free ceremony.

D’Acampo is currently working on a third Luciano opening, which will be spread across three floors in the heart of Manchester city centre. There is even an ‘evening with Gino’ at Luciano in Alderley Edge on March 9 for those who want to see him in the flesh.
