Free sausage rolls for life? Here’s everything you need to know about the Greggs black card

Chances are you’ve already heard of the Greggs black card, which launched back in 2020 following Nando's' very own version of the coveted card. But Greggs' black card has been thrust back into the limelight after Ed Sheeran gave his away to Mark Hoyle and wife Roxanne recently – aka Ladbaby – who he teamed up with on his recent hit Sausage Rolls to raise money for the Trussle Trust food bank charity. The song, made in collaboration with Sir Elton John, was top of the charts during Christmas 2021 and to congratulate the pair, Sheeran gave them the gift of unlimited Greggs. How thoughtful!

In a video shared by Ladbaby on Instagram, which shows Ed gifting him the card, the Shivers pop star says: '’When I played Jingle Bell Ball, Greggs gave me a black card for unlimited Greggs and I actually feel that the person who needs a Greggs black card the most is Mark.’’

''So, I'm going to give mine to Mark and, Greggs, if you're watching, and you get annoyed about this, please give Mark his own because he has done more for your brand than anyone else in this country. So, Mark, Happy Christmas!''.

So, is it possible to gain access to this exclusive club, which is occupied by the likes of Stormzy and Ed Sheeran? Read on to find out.

What is a Greggs black card?

A Greggs black card is a little elusive in its powers, but we understand that a holder of one is entitled to unlimited sausage rolls (along with any other Greggs item) for the rest of their life. The first ever card was gifted to rapper Stormzy back in 2020 who once rapped that he ‘grew up on yum-yums, Greggs and that’.

The black card gives users access to a very special Gregg’s Concierge service – which brings any order of Greggs baked goods direct to your door, free of charge.

How can I get a Greggs black card?

Unfortunately, the chances of getting your hands on a Greggs black card are slim pickings, with the all-mighty card not available to mere mortals such as us (aka the general public).

A spokesperson at Greggs said: “Our Concierge card is strictly by invite only to some of our biggest fans. That’s all we can say. So, yeah, the bad news is you have to be pretty special to get invited to join the Greggs Concierge club.’’

Our guess is that you have to have written an award-winning track that professes your love for Greggs to get hold of one. We better make a start, then.
