Skylon launches its Cloud 9 cocktail collection

This February, you can reach for the sky at South Bank restaurant Skylon. The stylish haunt, which boasts stunning views of the Thames, has created a menu of cocktails to help guests through the winter blues by inviting them to have cocktails in the clouds.

To set the scene, Skylon will boast a romantic installation, featuring illuminated cloud formations and sun spheres suspended above its central bar. There will also be ivory and pale pink paper peonies, alongside gold and white lanterns and miniature hot air balloon canopies with hanging Laurent-Perrier bottles entwined among them.

The Cotton Cloud at Skylon

The restaurant has collaborated with Champagne house Laurent-Perrier to create three sparkling cocktails (priced between £13.50-15.50). We love the look of the Cotton Cloud, which is served in a Champagne coupe and is topped with a pink cotton candy ball – in the glass, you’ll find a blend of wild berry cordial, rose perfume and Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée.

The Lucid Dream at Skylon with accompanying bar snacks

If you prefer your drinks with an added touch of theatre, opt instead for the Lucid Dream, which combines truffle honey syrup, Armagnac and Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée. It arrives at the table underneath a glass dome bell jar with a floral aroma, to add some drama to your cocktail catch up.

The Up & Away at Skylon

The third and final cocktail is the Up & Away, which mixes candied ginger with orange bitters, Mandarin Napoleon and Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée, and is completed by a sugar nest. If you fancy a sweet snack with your drink, Skylon has also designed an accompanying pudding in the form of a bitter almond cake with cassis consommé, which is served beneath a cloud.

We’ve always known the saying about looking at the world through rose-tinted glasses, we just didn’t realise they were referring to booze goggles – now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to stick our head in the clouds.

The Cloud 9 cocktail collection launches on 12 February 2019 and will be sticking around until the end of March. Want to try them out? You can read our review of Skylon's bar and book a table here.
