Michelin-starred chef Adam Handling has introduced some major price cuts to the menus at his British gastropub The Lock & The Tyne in Windsor to help people dine out amid the cost of living crisis. The price changes include a real reduction in price of the seven-course tasting menu, which has been reduced by £25 per person, from £80 to £55.
Adam has also extended the choice on his a la carte menu, and introduced a brand-new set lunch menu which includes two courses for £27, or three courses for £35.
'By reducing our prices, whilst maintaining the full quality of what we do best, we’re helping destination and local guests get an amazing meal with us at even better value, at a time when we’re all feeling the pinch. And we’re giving greater choice for regulars by adding more a la carte dishes, so we can welcome them back more regularly,' says Adam.
'The kitchen team, headed by Steven Kerr and Jonny McNeil, has been using their skills and refined techniques to make sure that every part of the high quality produce we use goes into sensational and seasonal dishes and reduces the emphasis on some of the most expensive ingredients, so we can bring down prices overall.'
The reduced-value tasting menu features the likes of ‘snacks’, lobster, plaice, pork and blackberry presented in various guises. For those following a vegan diet, there is an even better value plant-based tasting menu available, too, for £50 per person.
The a la carte menu has been extended to include a wider range of snacks, mains and desserts, with new dishes including a lobster and crab linguine and crispy plaice with anchovy emulsion and whey butter sauce. There is an increased focus on small and large plates, so that guests can mix and match more easily and share dishes if they want to.
The set-price lunch menu, which is available on Thursdays and Fridays only, includes octopus with harissa and sourdough, pork belly with warm tartare, watercress and truffle and fish cake with confit leeks and lobster sauce.
The lunch menu will be available until mid-November.
