Action Against Hunger launches Love Food Give Food campaign with 200 participating restaurants

Leading international hunger charity, Action Against Hunger UK, has launched its annual Love Food Give Food campaign, working alongside 200 restaurants to raise money for those experiencing life-threatening hunger across the globe. Visit any of the participating restaurants during September and October and you can help to tackle world hunger by adding just £1 onto your bill.

Participating restaurants include the likes of YO! Sushi, Hawksmoor, SartoriaNorma, Hakkasan, The Cinnamon Club and Tapas Brindisa. Many leading restaurants and brands have already signed up to the scheme with the campaign recruiting restaurants on a rolling basis throughout the next two months.

Returning for its 11th consecutive year, the Love Food Give Food initiative has raised over £3 million since it began in 2011. ‘We are excited to see the foodie community come together once again to support our cause and stop life-threatening hunger in its tracks,’ says Action Against Hunger UK Head of Partnerships Hannah Sanders.

Recent reports from the UN show that 810 million people worldwide go to bed hungry every night. So far, the campaign has helped 17 million people worldwide, but with global hunger levels rising due to current conflicts, climate change and increasing food prices, there is clearly still work to be done. The charity has estimated that at least 15 million people across East Africa are now experiencing extreme hunger due to this year’s prolonged drought; while the Ukraine-Russia conflict, which has affected imports and food prices, has meant that over 87% in the region cannot afford a healthy diet.

‘Action Against Hunger UK’s Love Food Give Food campaign is one of the highlights of our year,’ explains Hawksmoor co-founder Will Beckett. ‘Part of the reason we’re in business is to be able to make a difference in ways like this, and I hope it’s also part of the reason why staff and customers have grown to love Hawksmoor.’

Adding just £1 onto your bill provides enough money for the charity’s teams to provide a malnourished child with a day’s worth of live-saving food. Head here to enter your postcode and find participating restaurants near you.
