Inspired by the rich history of Soho and Victorian era pawn shops, Mr Fogg’s Pawnbrokers is the eighth member to join the Mr Fogg’s family. Located in Soho on Dean Street, this site showcases unique and eclectic cocktails served in inventive vessels, from ‘Ming’ vases to jewellery boxes. The story behind it? Phileas Fogg’s half-brother Frank lies at the helm of the cocktail bar, launching a pawnbrokers to capitalise on the famed family name and its newly acquired artefacts from around the world (just go with it).
The bar is divided into three distinct areas. The first is the Pawnbrokers Counter, one of two bars decorated with keepsakes and Victorian paraphernalia, ideal for those wanting to take in the sights and sounds of Soho from banquettes and poseur tables. The Strong Room, inspired by pawnbrokers’ vaults, surrounds guests with priceless 19th century jewels, gold, and antiques in glass fronted cabinets. While the Textiles Store, which includes another bar made of vintage carpets and rugs, features walls lined with Flemish tapestries and a vaulted ceiling draped in materials sourced from Mr Fogg’s travels across the globe.
The menu pays tribute to Victorian pawnbrokers. Examples of cocktails include Fool’s Gold, which sees peanut butter, 12-year Scotch whisky, vermouth, calvados, chestnut syrup and vanilla bitters served in a jewellery box. Along with a unique range of themed cocktails, guests can also choose from plenty of Mr Fogg’s classics available across all its sites.
The interiors play an integral role at all of Mr Fogg’s cocktail bars, with guests able to relax on soft sofas and banquettes in rich textures and tones at this Soho site. Tilt your head upwards to take stock of hanging pendant lights and various items accrued from Mr Fogg’s travels. While the exterior features authentic pawn shop insignia and a large bay window showcasing wares for sale.
