You can probably guess from the name that Moules A Go Go has a big focus on deliciously fresh mussels. The restaurant sources their mussels direct from the farm on Anglesey, but if you're not in the mood for seafood, you can choose from a range of steak, chicken, veggie and vegan options.
The main menu begins with starters of soup of the day with crusty bread, along with roast pumpkin, sage and romesco mayo arancini. Other options include sauteed mushrooms on sourdough toast with garlic, cream and thyme, and halloumi fries with sriracha, pomegranate, mint and yoghurt. For your main, you can of course head down the mussel route, but if you'd rather something a little different, try the pan roasted duck breast with garlic mash, braised red cabbage and a red wine jus, or the Sri Lankan curry with seasonal vegetables and a pea and lime rice. There are several great mussel pots to choose from, including the Harlech pot with Welsh style cider bacon, leeks, onion, cream and garlic. The kimchi pot has chilli and ginger paired with tomato, gochujang and Korean style cabbage, and there's always the naked pot, plain and simple with white wine, garlic, onion and celery.
If you're dining with a group, you can choose from a selection of share platters. The meaty platter is stacked with panko crispy chicken with gochujang mayo, pork and beef meatballs with tomato sauce and mozzarella, and skin on fries with grilled rump steak and garlic butter, whilst the veggie platter has halloumi fries, hummus with chickpeas and pita bread, arancini and sweet potato fries coated in Italian cheese, honey and spring onion. If you’re just popping in for a drink and a nibble, order fresh oysters with red wine vinegar and shallots that come in individual portions.
