Workers on their way home from the office have long been lured into making a detour towards Montien. A meal here is no grand event: this is a neighbourhood Thai café with a run-of-the-mill menu, & its looks are no great shakes. However, the food is fresh, the cooking is honest, & the prices are keen. Most customers stop by for a quick supper of pad thai noodles, Thai fishcakes or one of the classic curries. Some decide to make a night of it & meet for a chinwag in the basement dining room with a mate. The soulless upstairs room tends to be strictly for those waiting for their takeaways.
