While champagne isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, there’s no denying the sheer glamour and glitz of the Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar at Harrods. It is the French maison’s largest in Europe and the bar itself is hand-sculpted to mimic the rolling hills of the Épernay Champagne area. Furnishings are primarily white and cream and the space is punctuated by various pillars and shelves holding the titular bottles. The chandelier, meanwhile, is designed to mimic the effervescence of the drink itself, comprised of glinting circles of various tones and reflectivity.
There is, as one might expect, a huge selection of Champagne here. Options by the glass include the vibrant and intense Impérial Brut Magnum Serve, all the way up to a 2013 Grand Vintage Rosé, which offers a complex blend of fruits with a drier, almost spiced finish. By the bottle, however, you’ll find true rarities dating back as far as 1959, exclusive to Harrods.
Another way to enjoy your Champagne is as a decadent cocktail, and these are available too. The peach blossom, for example, sees Impérial blended with Belvedere vodka, peach liqueur, peach ferment and orange blossom. Pushing the decadence even further, the dose d’Or combines Nectar Impérial with Hennessy XO, miso, white chocolate, toasted brioche and Belvedere, for a showstopping cocktail like no other.
There are small bites available to accompany the Champagne and cocktails. These are split into sweet and savoury, with the former including the likes of oysters with pear and caviar, burrata with kimchi and black sesame or poached lobster with miso and yuzu. The latter, meanwhile, features decadent delights one might expect in a french patisserie, such as choux buns, Piemontese hazelnut praline and chocolate ganache or a lemon verbena mousseline and confit on a lemon square.
The bar is open every day and located in the beauty halls on the ground floor of Harrods.
