Michael Wan’s Wok Inn is found on The Promenade in Blackpool, run by Pauline Lai-Thomas and husband Gareth. You've perhaps not found anything quite like this before. A Budapest inspired 'ruin bar' meets a Penang Hawker Market, all nestled within a quaint seaside noodle bar. This brilliant mix of authentic dishes is complemented wonderfully by the modern design and seaside location, a real gem that really illuminates blackpool.
The food menu begins with the classics - Thai prawn crackers served with sweet chilli sauce, wasabi peas in spicy Japanese horseradish, edamame beans and cha siu bao sweet roasted pork-filled fluffy buns. If you're visiting with others, why not all order a selection of small plates and share them out amongst your table. Choose from vegetable gyoza, wings in a five spice sweet chilli sauce, prawn tempura in a crispy batter, satay chicken skewers with peanut sauce, salt and chilli squid and bang cauliflower.
For your main, choose from a wonderful selection of dishes. The soup ramen is made with homemade broth and hand-stretched fresh noodles, topped with pak choi, edamame, lettuce, coriander, chopped chilli and lime, where you can choose from boneless chicken thighs, shredded beef and duck, tofu and vegetable, a ribeye steak, seafood special and sweet potato with seaweed and veggie dumplings. Or, if a donburi is more your thing, choose from a dish that's been marinated with garlic, ginger and soy, a delicious all-in-one meal that's both fun and filling.
There are plenty of dishes from all around Asia on the menu. Choose from the Indonesian nasi goreng, a pad Thai, Japanese yaki udon, Malaysian beef rendang or Chinese chow mein.
When it comes to dessert, you can choose from a great selection of sweet treats. Try Michael Wan's leche frita, a dish of crispy deep-fried milk. With a sweet and crispy outer layer, light and gooey core, this South-East Asian dessert is always a favourite.
