Mewar Haveli is an Indian restaurant in Holme Pierrepoint on the outskirts of Nottingham. Its large roadside location makes for a lively and expansive dining room, while the food looks to elevate Anglo-British favourites by giving them a modern update..
Starters include all the classics, such as onion bhaji, vegetable pakora and chicken or prawn puri. There’s also several tandoori options, including the Haveli mix grill (chicken tikka, lamb chops, onion bhaji, malai tikka).
Main courses follow the starter’s lead. Balti, madras, korma and tikka masala are all on offer, served with either chicken, lamb, king prawn or vegetables. Those looking for something new are also catered for. Murgh makhani, one of the chef’s signature dishes, achari chicken and murgh mewar are also on offer. The latter is a Rajasthani delicacy that features chicken cooked in 12 different spices. There’s also a cod loin bhuna and king prawn karahi.
Tandoori main dishes continue the trend set by the starters. These include salmon tikka, chicken tikka, tandoori chicken (served on the bone) and Davids surf n turf (king prawns and lamb chops).
Rice and breads round out the savoury dishes. Options for the former include pilau, boiled, mushroom and vegetable, while for the latter there’s peshwari, keema, roti and paratha.
Mewar Haveli also offers a catering service, ranging from small parties to large several hundred person strong events. The main restaurant also operates as a takeaway and can be ordered online for collection or delivery.
