There truly seems no end to Megan's expansion, with sites all over the city – the number of which doubled from seven to fourteen just months after the lockdowns lifted. The Megan's Dulwich branch is much the same as its sibling sites (why mess with a tried and tested formula, after all?) majoring in all-day brunch dishes, dog-friendly surrounds and fun evening cocktails.
The setting is as Instagram-friendly as we’ve come to expect from the brand with mismatched tables and chairs, pretty tiling details and plenty of indoor planting for a garden-room feel.
The menu is available to guests on both a dine-in and take-out basis and centres loosely around a Mediterranean theme. At brunch – the restaurant’s most popular serve – there’s a full English, pancakes and eggs Benedict on offer as well as a pleasantly spiced shakshouka with baked eggs and flatbread. Washing it all down is a selection of organic coffee, fresh juices and smoothies.
Come lunch there’s a deli-vibe with salads, skewers, baps, wraps and sandwiches all popular. The open ‘posh’ kebabs range from plant-based imitation chicken through to the restaurant’s own take on a lamb doner. All come piled on top of a fluffy flatbread with sauce, salad and pickles.
In the evening there’s an extension to the options available, with small snack plates making the perfect sharing starters. Think gambas pil pil, plates of calamari and piri piri cauliflower ‘wings’. Larger mezze plates come with harissa hummus, pickled veg, coleslaw, chopped salad, tabbouleh, hand-stretched flatbreads and a garlic yogurt. If you’re feeling particularly peckish you can add all sorts of extras too, from grilled halloumi and quinoa falafel through to Turkish chorizo and overnight braised lamb shoulder.
Between Monday and Friday Megan’s also runs a good old fashioned happy hour, where you can enjoy half price drinks between the hours of 5-7pm.
