Megan's at the Flower Market Chiswick

Macrame, rattan, string lights - find these three factors in a buzzy-looking restaurant, and you’ve probably found yourself in a Megan’s. The restaurant chain has grown from an unassuming café on King's Road in Chelsea to a failsafe for crowdpleasing brunch or laid-back dinner with more than 10 locations in various corners of London. Megan’s At The Flower Market, on the corner of Chiswick High Road, is a much-welcome addition to the family.

We visited this outpost on a sunny July evening, with the option of taking a seat in the courtyard at the front of the building or indoors, where we could still feel the benefit of the breeze thanks to the partition walls that open up completely down one side.

The holiday vibes don’t stop there - the menu has a heavy Mediterranean influence, with all of the mezze, kebabs and grills you could desire, and plenty for both meat-focused and plant-based eating (we’d be surprised if even the pickiest of eaters couldn’t find a dish to choose from this extensive line-up). Service is relaxed and friendly and plates are tasty and generously piled; highlights included the cheese fondue croquettes - decadent, but worth it - and the open kebabs, which come served on a soft flatbread with a thick smear of harissa hummus and zingy pickled veg.

Seeing as Megan’s started life serving just coffee and cake, it should come as no major revelation that the bakery selection is excellent - we rounded out our meal with the orange and almond cake, which was delicious, although we did have a twinge of regret about not ordering the half baked cookie dough with Nutella and pistachios when one drifted past our table. After washing dessert down with an espresso martini - oft-cited as among the best in London - we left satisfied and certain that we’d be back.

Megan’s is already an established restaurant brand in London, popular with a peppy brunch crowd and the Chiswick site is no different to the other branches.

With all day dining on the menu, whatever time of the day you fancy a bite to eat you’ll be able to find something at Megan’s in Chiswick. Dishes have a Mediterranean vibe, with each combo having been created by Turkish head chef Sercan.

At breakfast you can expect shakshuka baked eggs or avocado on toast, while those with a sweet tooth might prefer a generous stack of pancakes. At lunchtime there are mezze dishes and a full evening menu come dinnertime which heroes ‘posh kebabs’ among other things. Our favourite dish though must be pudding, which comes in the form of half-baked cookie dough – a perfect bowl full of soft vanilla dough and melting chocolate chunks.

At the weekends there are popular bottomless brunches and cocktails on tap, which make a great backdrop to get togethers between friends. For those on-the-go Megan’s in Chiswick also does a good line in takeaway coffees and pastries – perfect for walking fuel if you’re looking to hit one of the nearby parks.

With an ‘everyone’s welcome’ policy, Megan’s welcomes four legged friends, and even provides beds, treats, and bowls for your canine family members. For further feelgood factor Megan’s also donates some of its profits from each site to local charities. During the day Megan’s welcomes workers too, so feel free to bring your laptop down for a change of scene if you’re sick of working from home. Megan’s' offering even extends to weddings, allowing you to book out the space for your special day.

Service at Megan’s is warm and friendly, with a team who are keen to ensure every guest leaves happy. If you have any special requests make sure to just ask, staff will usually go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need.
