About

Rooted in the heritage of Birmingham and Wolverhampton, Medicine Bakery is a repurposing of a previously abandoned space, designed to create something vital and diverse. Having created an artisan bakery, kitchen, café, and gallery, the creators aim to represent a new format of social space. Give the success of its first site, Medicine Bakery has now been set up in four different locations, each one occupying a beautiful space to serve delicious pastries and meals. These spaces are even used to hold exhibitions, with regular updates found on the brand's website for what's on when.

The brand was first born out of the night time scene of Digbeth, as the Medicine Bar. Founder Simon Jones developed a passion for bringing different communities together. The bar became a crucial feature in curating a diverse programme of artistic, guerrilla and sonic events, featuring a wide range of music genres. In 2011, when the bar closed, Simon and his wife Francesca developed a new passion for baking, relocating to a more rural environment to open their first bakery.

The Medicine Bakery in Wolverhampton is the fourth location for the brand. It incorporates the new artisan bakery production at the historic Chubb Building. A huge skylight covers the bakery’s courtyard space, creating a light and open atmosphere. It would definitely make for the perfect place for a catch-up with friends over a hot drink and a tasty treat.

As well as serving freshly baked breads, pastries, and cakes, the Medicine Bakery has crafted an incredibly tempting menu, with all products being handmade from locally sourced produce. Brunch and lunch plates are on offer, as well as a delicious list of grilled sourdough sandwiches. Highlights include a Halloumi brioche with chilli jam, passionfruit French toast, a buttermilk fried chicken burger with honey hot sauce, and the Buddha bowl that is full of green goodness. There are vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options available. The drinks menu of the Medicine Bakery is sure to either quench your thirst or provide you with your caffeine fix, as it has a wide range of coffees, lattes, teas and soft drinks.
