The guys behind Meatliquor on Welbeck Street have exported their edgy, urban burger concept to the seaside, with this outlet in trend-conscious Brighton: ‘come hungry, leave wobbly’ is its motto. As before, inspiration comes from America’s dirty, red-blooded southern states, which means ‘Dead Hippie’ burgers, spicy buffalo wings, chilli dogs, genuine ‘slaw and the restaurant's now-famous deep-fried pickles with blue cheese dip – complete with rolls of paper towels to keep those sticky fingers at bay. To drink, all manner of gin- and whisky-based cocktails served in jars keep customers fuelled up as a table-shaking blues soundtrack rocks the joint.
