Located on the historic ground floor of Manchester Hall – the former Freemasons Hall – in the heart of Manchester city centre, you’ll find Masons Restaurant and Bar.
If you’re interested in celeb-spotting, Masons has hosted a range of them lately, including Coronation Street stars, Love Islanders, and Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle.
Moving onto the food, described as ‘independently farmed, locally sourced, creatively prepared’, Masons’ menu is full of simple but high-quality dishes.
The restaurant offers different menus for different occasions: a main menu, Sunday lunch menu, children’s menu, and breakfast menu are all available for you to peruse, depending on the kind of meal you’re after.
If you’re dining a la carte, there’s a selection of olives and breads for you to nibble on whilst you wait for your mains. Starters are traditional and refined: chicken and leek terrice, spinach and wild garlic soup, and goat's cheese mousse. Main courses continue with classic ingredients put together in luxe combinations, including the summer game pie with confit garlic mash, Mason's fish and chips and roasted chicken supreme with pearl barley and a chicken and tarragon pan jus. Turning to dessert, you’re treated to some indulgent favourites, like an orange and passion fruit tart, and a white chocolate and blackcurrant terrine.
When it comes to a Sunday roast, Masons’ offering is enticing, coming in at £24 for two courses, or £28.50 for three. Breakfast and brunch offerings are equally as inviting, with particular highlights including smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough, a full English, eggs benedict and a granola bowl.
In terms of special events, you might also be interested in Mason’s cheese and wine night, which is held every Wednesday from 5pm. Alternatively, the special offer for midweek lunches means that you can order any main and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine with it – ideal!
