Named after the famous Blue Marlin in Ibiza and inspired by the sun-kissed glamour of the Spanish island, Marlin's on the Roof occupies the rooftop of the Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch hotel and provides a spirited and nostalgic all-day dining and drinking experience.
Shoreditch's skyline provides the backdrop to the restaurant and bar and helps to set a cosmopolitan vibe, enhanced by the orange neon ‘Marlin's’ sign that greets guests upon entry. The aesthetic of the restaurant is laid-back, with its with plentiful greenery, relaxed lounge seating, low-hanging rattan chandeliers, and cane furniture. Marlin's often has live DJs playing in the evenings, but diners coming during the workweek or during the day will hear a lively playlist with ambient soul, funk and electronic beats.
The Marlin's on the Roof menu is evolving and seasonal and reflects the brand's Ibiza roots. Breakfast features standard brunch fare like coffees, buttermilk pancakes and granola and fruit bowls. An a la carte menu covers lunch and dinner, offering smaller, lighter bites like crispy cod tacos, focaccia sandwiches, summery pasta and rice dishes, and salads, as well as substantial mains like seared seabass with aubergine tahini and charred Galician octopus with potato foam and chimichurri.
The drinks offering is an extensive and eclectic mix of flavours served in 1970's glassware, including classic choices like a frozen margarita or a catalina wine mixer. Diners wishing to sip on something more creative can enjoy the likes of the Canyon Cobblers with pisco, lime, honey and sparkling wine, or the Wet Gibsons with Oxley Gin, Martini Ambrato and silver skin onion.
