A small and welcoming Neapolitan pizzeria restaurant off Abbey Road, Mammasantissima is a beautiful space where you can enjoy modern twists and old-time classics in a space that feels creative and cosy. The team have worked hard to create a concept that harkens back to La Vecchia Napoli, and so has crafted a menu that consists of homemade pasta, daily specials, seafood and lobster, authentic pizzas and extravagant desserts.
The antipasti section kickstarts the menu with creamy buffalo soft mozzarella served on a bed of rocket salad with cherry tomatoes, caramelised balsamic vinegar and parmesan cheese, followed by black truffle Sicilian arancini balls, deep fried squid with a sweet chilli mayo and fried courgettes. The pasta options include a sun-blushed tomato red pesto spaghetti, puttanesca and seafood dream tagliatelle with tiger prawns, clams and mussels. There's even a selection of burrata delight special pastas for something particularly luxurious, including spaghetti di Gragnano in a homemade bronte pistachio pesto, topped with a whole burrata di bufala, crispy guanciale, parmesan cream and pistachio crumbles. Roasted duck comes stuffed in fresh ravioli, with other options including crab, and gnocchi stuffed with pumpkin and an amaretti and butter crumble.
There are so many fantastic pizzas to choose from, including all the classics. But one really special choice is the yellow submarine, which has been designed to honour The Beatles. This pizza base is topped with smoked mozzarella e ricotta di bufala, pumpkin, nduja soft sausages, yellow cherry tomato, parmesan and evo oil. A cheese lover's heaven, the nel blu dipinto di blu is a white base pizza with gorgonzola blue cheese, fior di latte mozzarella, artichokes, a rocket salad and parmesan cheese. Last but not least, the sweet pizza is a great dessert option, with a Nutella base topped with hazelnut crumbles and Kinder Bueno.
