Bringing a touch of Californian sunshine to The Ned, the gargantuan City hotel and dining complex from the Soho House group, is Malibu Kitchen.
Tucked away in the corner of The Ned’s impressive fleet of ground-floor restaurants, Malibu Kitchen is a cosy and compact space, featuring a long communal table in the middle of its dining room and then a few two or four person booths either side. Towards the back of the room, there is a partially open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs at work, while on the opposite end of the space, there is a counter where buffet spreads sit on the weekend.
With health and wellness at the forefront of its ethos, Malibu Kitchen offers an all-day food menu which is replete with veggie and vegan options, as well as all of the usual Mediterranean by way of the US fare that you would expect to find in sunny California. At breakfast, guests can get their day off to the right start with health-conscious dishes such as a colourful acai bowl or turmeric pancakes topped with banana and almond butter.
Malibu Kitchen’s a la carte is split between ‘first bites’, ‘raw and cured’, ‘vegetables, seeds and grains’ and ‘fish and meat’. You can pick and choose between the different sections and while you are browsing you might come across the likes of sea bass ceviche or scallops slicked with miso, while those looking for a little more indulgence can opt for the cheeseburger, which is served inside a potato bun,
On Tuesdays, diners at Malibu Kitchen can treat themselves to a signature Soho House Picante cocktail, two tacos, a side and a dessert for only £27. If you are really looking for value for money though, try Malibu Kitchen’s all-you-can-eat vegetarian brunch on Saturday afternoons.
